Workmanship Guarantee

We stand behind our workmanship. If any issues arise due to our fault, we will promptly assess and repair them. As a QBCC Licensed contractor, you can have peace of mind knowing we are legally obligated to rectify any structural defects for up to 6 years and 6 months from the completion date, provided you notify us within 12 months of discovering the issue.

Please note: Our workmanship guarantee does not cover installed products, which are subject to the manufacturer’s warranty.

We have developed comprehensive Safe Work Methods that are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect best practices and regulatory changes. These methods are designed to ensure the safety of our workers, clients, and the public.

Our operations comply with all relevant Australian Standards, including the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 (QLD), applicable building codes, and industry-specific safety policies.

All team members are equipped with and trained in the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and we enforce strict adherence to PPE protocols on all job sites.

Rycan Retaining and Earthworks does not engage in any work involving asbestos. In situations where asbestos-related tasks are necessary, we ensure that only licensed and qualified professionals are contracted to carry out the work in accordance with legal and safety requirements.

After the site visit, you’ll receive a detailed quote within 7 business days.

Accepting Your Quote is Easy

Simply click “Accept” on the electronic quote we send you. Once we receive your acceptance, we’ll issue a Trade Contract outlining all the key details.

Contracts You Can Trust

As a proud member of Master Builders QLD, all our contracts are legally sound, fair, and easy to understand. We make sure you’re fully informed of your rights and obligations from the outset. You’ll also receive a copy of the QBCC Consumer Building Guide for your peace of mind.

Your Trade Contract will include:

• Project start and anticipated completion dates
• A clear progress payment schedule
• All terms and conditions in plain language

Deposit Policy
Rycan Retaining and Earthworks follows QBCC guidelines for deposits:

• Projects $20,000 and above: Maximum deposit is 5% of the total contract price (including labour, materials, and GST).
• Projects between $3,300 and $19,999: Maximum deposit is 10%.
• Projects under $3,300: Deposit amounts are determined on a case-by-case basis.

Exceptions
If more than 50% of the work is completed offsite (e.g., materials manufactured offsite), a deposit of up to 20% is permitted.

Payment Terms
Deposits must be paid within 2 days of signing the trade contract. Payment can be made via:

• Bank Transfer
• Credit/Debit Card (Visa, MasterCard – 2% surcharge applies)

Booking Confirmation
Your booking is only confirmed once we receive both the signed trade contract and deposit.
We can tentatively hold your preferred date for up to 2 days. If the deposit is not received within this time, the date may be released to other clients.

Council Permits
If a council permit is required before or after works, it is the responsibility of the property owner or managing agent to obtain it.
Need help? We can refer you to qualified third-party professionals for engineering, council approvals, or certification quotes.
(Please note: Rycan does not have a qualified engineer or certifier on staff.)

Site Safety & Utility Services
We take great care to protect your landscape and property during operations.
Before work begins, clients must:

• Identify and inform us of all utility services and fixed property (e.g., water, sewer, drainage, power, telephone)
• Provide relevant reports such as ‘Dial Before You Dig’

While we take all reasonable precautions, Rycan cannot be held responsible for damage to services or property not disclosed prior to commencement.

What is Home Warranty Insurance?
Home Warranty Insurance is a type of protection provided by your contractor as part of your building contract. It’s a premium paid to the QBCC (Queensland Building and Construction Commission) to insure residential construction work under both fixed-price and cost-plus contracts.

This insurance only applies to residential construction projects and is designed to protect homeowners if something goes wrong during the building process. If issues arise within a specified time period, you may be eligible to make a claim.

⚠️ Important Note on Retaining Walls
Not all retaining wall projects are covered. Home Warranty Insurance is only required for retaining walls that:

• Affect the structural integrity of a dwelling (such as a house or shed), and
• Are valued at more than $3,300
